Tourists love the coastal town of Jimbaran in Bali because of its beautiful beaches and fresh seafood. You won’t find the most sophisticated transport options here, but there are plenty of things to do in Jimbaran. Whether you are traveling with family or you need budget options to explore like a local, understanding public transport will help you get the most out of your trip.
Bemo and Local Minibuses: The Traditional Way to Travel
One of my favourites is the bemo, my most common form of public transport in Jimbaran is a small van that operates similar to a shared taxi. Unlike buses, Bemos have no set timetable. But, they are also a very economical means of transportation if you are only going a short distance. As with many forms of travel, it’s best to inquire before you get in to avoid any possible misunderstandings.
Motorbike Taxis and Ride-Hailing Apps: Fast and Convenient
Motorbike taxis are handy for short distances to travel to nearby attractions like Uluwatu or Kuta since they are quite popular in Jimbaran. Local ojek drivers can be hailed or booked through ride-hailing applications such as Gojek and Grab. The goodies these apps provide such as fixed prices, route tracking, payment options, and a number of other features make them safer and more convenient for visitors to the area who aren’t familiar with it.
Public Buses and Perama Tour
Jimbaran does not have a major bus terminal, but one can access Bali’s public bus system and book rides through tour companies such as Perama Tour. These buses serve to interconnect Jimbaran with other major tourist areas such as Denpasar, Ubud, Lovina and many more. If you are going to travel long distances across the island, then this is a great reliable option.
Hints for Understanding Jimbaran’s Public Transport System
While planning to travel using public transport in Jimbaran, ensure to have some change with you, exercise some patience, and be ready to learn a few words in Bahasa Indonesia. You can never be too careful, make sure to double check the destination with the driver before you get on. If you are someone who values comfort and convenience, renting a scooter or ordering a bike through a ride-hailing app would be ideal for you. Jimbaran has so much to offer, and with a little bit of planning, you can use public transport as part of your journey.
