Best Time to Visit Sanur

Discover the Relaxed Charm of Sanur

The charming seaside town of Sanur recoils from the rush and hubbub of Bali's northern beaches. Swaddled by calm waters, and engulfed with the mesmerizing sight of the sunrise, gives off a relaxed vibe revealing its beauty. Sanur is eminent for being peaceful and special for couples, families and older travellers. To know how to best plan your trip to Sanur, it is important to acknowledge the two main seasons of the place.

Dry Season: Recommended Period (April to October)

The worst period to go to Sanur is between April and October as most Sanur veterans don’t recommend it. Throughout these months, you can expect minimum sun, humidity levels achieving an all-time low, and the sea becoming untouchable. Snorkelling and swimming becomes impossible as well as enjoying the beaches. July and August are by far the worst months. The combination of Australians and Europeans allows Bali to reach maximum tourist levels. During this time, beaches tend to become overcrowded, immersed in a ‘bargain’ based market, leading to a price hike for accommodation. If you enjoy poorly maintained beaches and suddenly booming prices, you can visit during April, May and September.

Wet Season: Staggering Aesthetics July – January

‘Wet months’ for Bali are from November to March where heavy rainfall and increased humidity is the norm. This may be a downside to some travellers, but it is also when Sanur remains calmer than the other parts of Bali in peak rainy months and allows one’s landscape to savour in its fullest glory. Temperature and Hotel rates remain low, tourists become scarce, and quiet retreat seekers can savor the most out of this period. All of this contention seems like a traveller’s nightmare until you realize that the Sanur area is devoid of the Bali hustle and you rarely see nature in full bloom. Even if you do not mind frequent downpours, the dry months of December to March are worth indulging in.

Best times to go to Sanur

Instead of thinking about the weather, Bali possesses a rich cultural heritage so timing your visit around local festivals and cultural events is key to getting the best out of your trip. A festival that is worth attending for tons of memories is Nyepi or Day of Silence which is celebrated in April when the whole island becomes parked for 24 hours. An event worth attending however is August Sanur Village Festival which is an entire month where art serves as the main course and food and music are the sides. Whether it be your first time on the island or if you are a frequent visitor, strategizing around local weather and cultural events creates balance to your schedule and your trip becomes ten times as memorable.
